Things That Make Us Smile

At Chic'n'Cheerful HQ, we smile a lot, but today we have particularly big grins.

We recevied a testimonial and some beautiful photographs from Laura and Andy,  It's a genuine pleasure to be an important element of such a special day!

"We got married on the 12th of April 2013, in Surbiton, Surrey. We wanted something a bit different to the 'traditional' wedding car, this is when we thought Rusty would be the perfect option. The car arrived with plenty of time to get me to the church and was everything we thought it would be, shiny, cool, good looking and definately a head turner. When the service had finished it just started to rain, Grant was there at the perfect time to rescue us with an umbrella. We had a smooth ride to the reception, with bubbly served on the journey (Grant even catered for a quick veil change pit stop ). Such happy memories in the coolest wedding car ever, lots of 'ooooh's and ahhhh's as we arrived at the reception venue in Wimbledon Village. We really couldnt have asked for a better car or driver. If you want something a bit different then this is your car. You wont be dissapointed.   The new 'Mr and Mrs du Vergier'"

Today's haul

A very successful trip to Rochester, provided these fantastic cake stands - we are particularly pleased with the glass covered cake plate, and are itching to make something covered with icing to put under it!

Rochester is such a lovely place - if you've never been, I recommend it, for the Cathedral, the book shops, antique shops, and of course - as much Dickens history as you can handle.

Bunting production

Another busy evening making bunting - finally I am sewing together all the flags, and am currently at 80ft and counting, with a whole heap more flags ready to go.

FYI, a small glass of wine makes for better bunting :)

Sausage rolls

Testing out the recipes this weekend, I made some sausage rolls. These were rated 10/10, made with Speldhurst pork and Spitfire ale sausage meat - definitely one for the menu!

Gathering the good stuff!

So that we can offer a delightful selection of vintage crockery, we spend a lot of time searching through antiques shops, charity shops, car boot sales, flea markets... It's always exciting coming back with beautiful things, knowing they'll soon be loaded up with cakes and sandwiches.

72 cupcakes

I've been working on my own cupcake combo, and after 6 batches of trial and error, have a delicious recipe that I'm very happy with :) I'm keeping it secret for a couple of weeks (I'll tell you why soon!) and then I'll share the recipe with you. In the meantime, here's a photo to tempt your taste buds...
